✨ Father Knows Best: Life Lessons, Godly Wisdom, and the Legacy of My Greatest Coach

Some people leave behind possessions. Others leave behind memories.
But my father, Bertell F. Percival — affectionately known by everyone as Bro. Percy — left behind something far greater: a living legacy of wisdom, faith, and integrity that continues to shape my life and the lives of many others.

To the world, he was a humble man with quiet strength.
To the church, he was Bro. Percy — a dependable pillar rooted in the Word of God.
To coworkers, he was simply “Percy,” a man known more by his character than by his title.

But to me, he was Daddy — my first life coach, my most consistent mentor, and the voice I still hear when life gets uncertain. And now, as a life coach myself, I carry his spirit into the work I do every day. I see him, my daddy, in the way I speak to people. I see him when I look in the mirror, and there is a twinkle in my eyes when an idea comes to me. I see him when I thank God for His mighty blessings.

Even during my time in the military, people instinctively saw what I carried. I was called Ms. Percy, not just because of my last name — Percival — but because my character mirrored his. That was always his way: lead by example, and people will follow your life, not just your words. Bro. Percy believed in the principles of matters and living a life of integrity, which is what my superiors saw in me.

This blog series, “Father Knows Best,” was born from that legacy. These will be letters to the little girl and life lessons that you can keep in your heart for a lifetime.

It’s more than a tribute — it’s a living space where timeless truths meet today’s struggles. A space where the wisdom of Scripture, the stories of my life, and the guidance I offer as a coach all come together to speak life, healing, and clarity into others.
